Bens meet Joes in T20 Cricket
St. Benedict’s College qualified to play in the pre-quarterfinals of the schools under 19 All Island T20 Cricket Tournament and will meet traditional rivals St. Joseph’s College on Thursday, 4th April 2013 at Darley Road, Maradana, commencing 1.30 p.m.
  
Bens taste first victory for the season at Rugby
St. Benedict’s College managed to pull off an thrilling one point win over Maliyadeva College by 18 (3 tries, 1 penalty) to 17 (1 goal, 2 tries) in the Singer League Rugby under 20 segment ‘C’ Tournament match played at Kurunegala today. (2nd April 2013)
  
Old Bens register 3rd successive win over Summerset SC
Old Bens SC beat Summerset SC by 8 wickets in the Division Three, 50 overs cricket tournament organised by the Colombo District Cricket Association, played on 26th March 2013 at the College Grounds, Kotahena.
The main highlight of the match was, apart from Shanan Paterson, others who excelled for the OBSC were players from the current first XI team of St. Benedict’s College.Summerset SC: 76 All out (Chandana Jayasanka 3 for 21, Yohan Soyza 1 for 14, Geethika Jayathilake 2 for 20, Shanan Paterson 3 for 12)Old Bens SC: 78 for 2 wickets (Thilina Silva 47 n.o., Sameera Sandamal 28 n. o.)Old Bens SC will be playing their last 1st round match with Walpola SC on Sunday the 7th April 2013 at college grounds, Kotahena.

BENS into Semis beating Dharmasoka in Quarterfinals
St. Benedict’s College recorded a convincing five wicket win over Dharmasoka MV -Amblangoda in the quarterfinals of the schools under 19 limited over tournament match played at Campbell Park today. (2nd April 2013)Batting first, Dharmasoka were bowled out for a modest 120 runs in 37.1 overs with Yohan Soyza bowling his best to claim four wickets. Bens in pursue were 52 for no loss at one stage, but lost three quick wickets to be in a wobbly 57 for three. However, a fine 37 balls knock of 48 not out (7 x 4s & 2 x 6s) by Vice-captain Madura Madushanka steered the Bens to victory in the 39th over.Going back on record, Mr. Vivian Saverimuthupulle( POG / MIC), said that It is significant to note that the last time St. Benedict’s College entered a Semifinal, was way back in 1979 (34 years ago) under the captaincy of All-rounder Gehan Perera for the Exide Trophy Schools limited over tournament, which Bens lost to Nalanda College, Colombo.St. Benedict’s College will now meet Wesley College in the semi-finals at the Kettarama International Cricket stadium on 8th or 9th April 2013.(Awaiting confirmation on the date from SLSCA)

Wesley College qualified to the semifinals beating Prince of Wales College, Moratuwa by 4 wickets in the other quarterfinals match played at Kotahena today. St. Peter’s College, who beat Gurukula MV by a huge margin of 145 runs, will now meet the winners of the 4th quarter final between St. Sebastian’s College, Maratuwa and Lumbini MV, Colombo, in the other semifinals.

Dharmasoka MV: 120 All out in 37.1 overs (Yohan Soyza 4 for 20, Geethika Jayatilleke 3 for 36, Harshana Kularatne 2 for 34)

St. Benedict’s College: 121 for 5 in 38.2 overs (Mahela Jayalath 22, Thilina Silva 26, Sameera Sandamal 14, Madura Madushanka 48 n.o.)
