Subject: Old Ben Indika Gamlath picked for Asian Masters
Old Benedictine Indika Gamlath brought honour to St. Benedict’s College as
he was picked to represent Sri Lanka at the 17th Asian Masters Athletic
Championships 2012 to be held in Taipei, Taiwan from November 2nd to 7th.
Indika won Silver and Bronze in the 100 and 200 meters at the 26th Masters
Open Athletic Championship held at the Sugathadasa Stadium in July this year
which enabled him to be selected for the Asian Masters in Taiwan where he
will compete in the 200, 400 and 4 x 100 meters events.
Incidentally at the age of 19, Indika held the record for 200 meters at the
College Athletic Meet which was broken after a period of 16 years this year
by Master Ashantha Kumara.
Indika is currently a member of the tutorial staff at St. Benedicts College,
teaching Commerce subjects in the Advance Level classes and the MIC for
Athletics at College. He is also serve as the Auditor, of the Sri Lanka Athletic Association.

achievements and wish him good luck and God’s Blessings in abundance at the
Masters championships in Taiwan.
